Thank you so much for allowing the world to benefit from your years of study 🙂
Hi peace
Thanks for your comment.
If you would like an outer layer untouched by boning, or the top stitched channels that hold them:
1. Make the 2 layer corset as originally shown, with all boning contained within the two layers of coutil.
2. Before finishing your double layer corset with bias binding and eyelets, make sure you construct a third layer out of material (keep it thin to reduce bulk of your corset).
3. Place this over the top of your double layer corset (on the exterior surface) lining up all seams then hand sew up each seam locking all 3 layers together (try and keep the stitching as invisible as possible).
4. Then seal all layers together using bias binding as before
5. To finish eyelet your corset as before
This will give you a corset with all boning and top stitching concealed under an exterior martial layer.
If this doesn’t make sense please let me now and I’ll include diagrams.
All the best

If you want to make the corset with an overlay that does not show the boning (i.e. lays smoothly over the boned under-layers), when should you attach it to the boned part of the corset. I assume that if I were to add the top layer when you say to, the boning stitches would extend through to the outermost layer. How do I avoid this?
