Hey, just loved your videos and patterns..
I was sad because I couldn’t find any good tutorial or video of a corset making, but yours is a really good one.
Thank you so much for sharing this!
I’ll be following you here!
=)
Dear RAlph, Thanks so much for sharing thiese excellent tutorials and tools. It has been a few years since I studied pattern cutting, i just wish I had been better at illustrator at college! I cannot wait to get back into it again. Keep up the great work. x n
Hey I love your videos! They are soo helpful, building my first corset (the first one I actually made was with my mom and didn’t work out so I won’t count it) and I am already altering the life out of it! but I want to make a reversible corset, obviously there has to be a middle that has all the work (which will be my coutil, outsides are my pretty fabrics)… I was curious if you knew how I should go about putting an underwire lining in a strait up 6 panel overbust corset? the rest of the work I have figured out except for that part, even how I can remove/replace the bones so I can wash the corset repeatedly. I will be using spiral cord steel instead of spring steel, and it will be 3/16″ instead of 1/4″, also coated so it will smoothly slide in and out of the casing. I figured I could just use that as an underwire too, with channeling on both sides of the “body” layer (middle) with the guided casing going around where needed. do you think this is a functional idea?
I can never just do things simple. It’s custom, right? Then it can’t be!
Thank you for your time and help!
a lot of good information here, thanks and good luck in your goals!
hi, im really new to this u could say im a beginner well my question is that really want to do this but the corset i wanna to is the traples top heart shapes quinceanera dress and second its for a fluffy person how to i begin? is it any different from the corsetry u did in the video? and how to i decorate it like they have on most picture how do i sow the colored material to the corset and sow the beaded decoraitions?
Hi Mercedes, Thank you for your comment. If you are new to corsetry you will go through a period of learning that can be quite traumatic at first, there are plenty of different ways to make corsets, the best thing to do is buy 2-3 books on the subject I have listed a few below. The hardest part is getting it to fit correctly. Even with a graded pattern you will need to adjust it to fit comfortably.
I do have one or two corset patterns similar to your description which I can send you however they are standard UK8 US6 and as yet have no instruction guides. If you are prepared to wait until late Febuary, I will be launching a sister site with downloadable patterns and full instruction sets, the corset you are describing will be featured on that site. The instruction sets will explain how to build a decorative layer. Unfortunately I cant help you at this time as the work is still in progress.
I hope this helps
Corsets – Historical patterns and Techniques – Jill Salen
The basics of corset building – Linda Sparks
Corsets & Crinolenes – Norah Waugh
What happened to the site with downloadable patterns and full instruction sets??
Maybe it’s all quiet on here because it’s about to go up and he is working on it… hope so I can’t wait!
That would be amazing.

Awfully illuminating thanks, There’s no doubt that your subscribers may well want even more posts similar to this keep up the good content.
fantastic work. Only one constructive cristism. be careful with black beaded looks that they do not end up looking like Cher’s Oscar outfit in 1986.
